Thrive Campaign
The Thrive Campaign is an investment in Wayland students! Resources are needed now more than ever to attract and retain students at a level that makes us more competitive. When our campuses grow, our mission field grows, and Wayland is able to carry out its Kingdom purposes on a greater level.
Major Initiatives
Academic Excellence
Educating students is at the heart of our mission, so we want to have the resources to do that with excellence. This includes the following:
· Researching possibilities for and adding new, high-demand degrees to prepare students for a competitive job market: RN-BSN Nursing, BSN Night Program, Business Analytics degree, Actuarial Science degree, Media Arts reformatted program, Doctorate in Strategic Leadership, Data Science degree, master's degree in athletic training, degrees in sports media, sports psychology, sports ministry, sports management/admin/marketing; educational programs
· Enhancing teaching spaces and labs to be technologically relevant: update Harral Music Lab, computer labs in Gates Hall, Moody Science Building, Nunn Business Building; Hy-Flex learning spaces in each academic school; updates to Nunn Business Building
· Elevating our honors program to attract high-performing students and help them flourish: includes endowment for scholarships and creation of an Honors Living & Learning Space
· Expanding services to veterans and military students through creation of a Veterans Success Center
· Investing in quality faculty to inspire and prepare future professionals
Campus Improvements
Wayland boasts a rich heritage, but we must refresh some spaces to compete in the admissions market for a new generation of young people. This includes the following:
· Enhancing curb appeal and the welcoming aspect across our main campus: parking lots and drives, key areas landscaping, enhanced reception/admission area, addition of environmentally responsible elements (lighting, trees, plants)
· Updating on-campus living spaces for a fresh, inviting look: update student gathering spaces such as dorm lobbies and common spaces in several buildings; minor refreshes to older campus buildings
· Increasing campus safety and security: addition of security cameras, card swipe entries and key coded door locks, AEDs
· Refreshing dated spaces to increase functionality: Add high-tech conferencing capabilities to McClung Center banquet room, conference rooms in Gates Hall, President's Suite, Heritage Room, Brown Family Conference Center, Museum, Pete's Place, Van Howeling basement; enhanced AV in McClung Center
· Updating essential systems for efficient performance: HVAC in Mabee LRC, Harral South, Owen Hall, Jimmy Dean Hall, Davis Hall and Caprock Hall; concrete prairie repairs; campus irrigation system repairs; computers and printers for employees
· Celebrating and deepening our faith in Jesus Christ: increase Christian atmosphere on campus, increase outreach to churches, employees and students for spiritual life and recruitment; grow the Bible project for new students
· Enhancing the student life experience through increased activities and a student leadership program
Wayland Athletics
Sporting programs help build spirit and connection among students, community and alumni, and Wayland’s programs have long been a source of pride and recruitment. Initiatives in this area will help us grow our teams through recruiting excellent athletes.
· Scholarship funding to increase recruiting potential
· Investments in junior varsity programs that help attract additional students: scholarships, travel budgets, assistant coaches
· Updated transportation options for teams
· Minor facility updates: turf replacement for baseball, softball
Ignite Wayland
Reaching the right students for the Wayland experience – across all campuses – is paramount to enrollment success and growth. And supporting that through fundraising and marketing efforts is equally important.
· Provide tools and technology to support efficient recruitment, retention and advancement efforts
· Scholarship funding to increase recruiting potential and help students: Title V Scholarship Match funds, other scholarships
· Provide tools and technology to support efficient administrative functions including benefits, budgeting, financial aid
· Create parent portal and other parent engagement tools
