WBU Offers Free WiFi for Community

PLAINVIEW - Wayland Baptist University is offering free WiFi to the Plainview community during the time of social distancing. The Wayland administration decided to offer the service, knowing that many are struggling with complications of day-to-day living due to COVID-19, such as taking online classes and completing homework.

"While Wayland's campus is closed to the public, our assets can continue to benefit the citizens of Plainview and the surrounding area," said WBU President Dr. Bobby Hall. "Whether students completing courses or employees working from home, some in our community may struggle with internet access and it made sense for Wayland to help meet this need by providing free wireless internet service during the pandemic."

The service is located the north parking lot of Jimmy Dean Hall at the corner of 9th and Quincy streets. Devices can connect to the WiFi point WBUParking. No password is needed for the public service. Service will be available from 8:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. until further notice.
