About this Program

The Homeland Security/Emergency Management specialization of the MPA program is designed to prepare students to identify and respond intelligently to emergency situations, whether they arise from natural or man-made forces.  Students will gain an understanding of the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to develop, implement, and manage effective emergency response plans.  Curriculum will cover major threats to security and current issues in administrative action.  The specialization is geared towards those pursuing careers in public administration who have a desire to prepare for and act when natural and man-made threats arise. 


The Master of Public Administration degree specializing in Homeland Security/Emergency Management requires a total of 36 hours, 18 hours being core courses and 18 hours specializing in homeland security/emergency management.
