Blackboard is widely used in American universities and has been designed for functionality and ease of use. Still, you will probably want to know what to expect the first time you use the program. Check each of the topics at left.
Blackboard Access
The place to start can be found at http://virtualcampus.wbu.edu. You can click this link or reach the same destination by starting at the Wayland website and following these links: Online Classes > Blackboard Access. (If I were you, I would bookmark this URL!) The welcome page will look like this:
This is the area from which you will log in. Just click the Login button. Notice that there is pertinent information posted on this page about logging in and troubleshooting.
Username and Password
When the Virtual Campus office sets up your user account in Blackboard, we use your WBU student ID number as your username. So when you register for an online course, be sure to ask your advisor to tell you the nine-digit ID number. Your default password will be the first three letters of your first name plus the first three letters of your last name (no capitals or spaces). Once you have logged into Blackboard you can (and should) change your password. Look in the Tools box for a Personal Information link.
Email
In order for the Virtual Campus and your online instructor(s) to maintain contact, it is essential that we have a working email address for you. Furthermore, your account in Blackboard cannot be set up without an email address being entered into Wayland's central information system (PowerCAMPUS). When you give your email address information to the campus with which you are registered, that info is entered into Wayland's database. If you find that you cannot log into Blackboard even with correct username and password, it is likely that your email address has not been entered into PowerCAMPUS. Please contact your advisor to be sure that this info is entered.
