Dr. Jo Beth DeSoto
Blessed by Her Students
Dr. Jo Beth DeSoto grew up and graduated from high school in Hobbs, NM. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of New Mexico, and her Master’s in Music Education and Doctorate in Education from Texas Tech University.
In 2005, DeSoto saw an advertisement for a teaching position at Wayland on the Chronicle of Higher Education’s website.
“I feel that God literally picked my family up and moved us here,” DeSoto said.
When asked what she enjoys best about Wayland, DeSoto replied it is the people she works with.
“Everyone is so nice and encouraging,” DeSoto said. “The kids at WBU are truly amazing and I am blessed by them on a daily basis.”
DeSoto and her husband of 34 years have two grown children, one who works as a special education teacher in Odessa, TX and the other who’s a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps currently stationed in Hawaii. The couple are also the proud parents of three Labrador Retrievers.
