Timothy Davis

Inspired to be Creative

Class of 2018

Timothy Davis Current

Timothy Davis, a junior Mass Communications/Media Studies major from Liberal, KS, has found that Wayland has expanded his horizons both academically and spiritually. In addition to playing trombone in the Pioneer Band, he also works as the manager of the sports broadcast team. As manager it is his job to create the work schedule the other members of the team, teach them how to use the different equipment and produce each live sports broadcast. He hopes to someday take his degree and skills and use them to become a Media Consultant.

On academic rigor

“Wayland has pushed me to be more creative and more focused. Not because the assignments or classwork is too hard, but because my professors and classmates inspire me to produce my best work.”

On making friends at Wayland

“I've made some of the best friends I've ever had here at Wayland. Whether it's studying together, playing board games at Pete's Place, or making late night trips to our favorite donut shop, my Wayland family has supported me and drawn me closer to Christ.”

On Christian culture

“The culture of Wayland is one of devotion to God. It's so encouraging to be around people who love Jesus, and build each other up.”

On smaller class sizes

“Because of the smaller class sizes, I've been able to have much more access to my professors and the knowledge they posses. I learn best through conversations, and that's exactly what my classes are. Conversations.”

On experiential learning

“I was plugged into degree related projects within my first week of class. I currently work with the sports broadcast team, which has been a great experience for me, and a great place to make friends.”

On finding your excellence

“Wayland has given me so many opportunities to improve my skill set, and push myself to be more creative and more efficient.”
