Something to Sing About
Class of 2017
Elizabeth Johnson is a senior Vocal Performance major from Carlsbad, NM. During her time at Wayland she’s been a part of International Choir, Wayland Opera and the Student Senate.
She’s also been a member of the worship choir at First Baptist Church in Plainview and the youth worship leader at First Baptist Church in Cotton Center. Johnson states that at Wayland she’s been pushed to become the best she can be in her career and as an individual. She plans to continue her education and get a master’s degree in vocal performance and one day teach voice and direct opera at the collegiate level.
On smaller class sizes…
“I love how small the classes are because you can seek individual attention if you need it. Not only will you be successful, but also the faculty will go out of their way to make sure you are learning everything you need to as well as want to.”
On the Wayland faculty…
“The faculty are my favorite part of Wayland. They teach out of passion rather than obligation, and they care about you as both a student and a person. They are prepared with advice on classes as well as life itself. Through their support, I have been able to refine my abilities as a successful musician, as well as discover how strong of a person I really am.”
On the Wayland environment…
“Being in an environment of people who love Christ is nothing short of amazing. It takes the weight of the world off your shoulders knowing you can approach both faculty and peers to express prayer concerns.”
