Preparing for Business Abroad
CLASS OF 2009 & 2011
Kelsey Beggs received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Specialization in International Management and later a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Wayland in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
Beggs is currently the Operations Supervisor for the Overflow Guesthouse in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and calls Siem Reap and Plainview home.
“I hope to one day take over operations at Overflow Guesthouse and continue the business as a missions model started by Adventures in Missions. The Guesthouse hosts international guests and missions teams while equipping the local staff with English and other business skills so they can be successful in the local area.”
When asked how Wayland helped prepare her for her current position, Beggs said that her studies at Wayland allowed her to experience different cultures through her interactions with international students.
“It was always interesting to see how they grew up or their different opinions on things based on where they were from.”
Beggs also went on to say that her favorite memory from her time at Wayland was the campus wide snowball fight that took place in The Marsh at 3 a.m.
“Wayland was and is my family. I am very grateful for the support of faculty and staff in all my endeavors. I met my best friends at Wayland and we share a special bond and love reminiscing about our small-town college experience.”
