Jessica Kenneson Krewall
WBU the Right Catalyst for Krewall’s Pursuit of Doctorate
CLASS OF 2015
Jessica (Kenneson) Krewall graduated from Wayland’s Plainview campus in May 2015 with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Shortly after graduation she married Joshua
Krewall and then they and their dog moved to Auburn, Alabama, where Jessica is pursuing
a Ph.D. in Biochemistry while Joshua works on his M.Div. at the Beeson School of Divinity
at Samford University in Birmingham.
Krewall first came to Wayland for Big Weekend during her junior year of high school. She was impressed by “how greatly God was working in the science department,” especially the “great research projects.” She instantly knew God was calling her to Wayland, to do medical research. Krewall followed God’s direction and started at the Plainview campus in the Fall of 2011 as a Chemistry/Molecular Biology double major. She also picked up a math minor and joined the Honors Program.
Krewall insists that her professors at Wayland “completely prepared” her for graduate school by telling her what to expect, giving her the tools to prepare herself, and pushing her “really hard” so that she “can be independent and confident” in the Ph.D. process. According to Krewall, her studies are going well.
“I am thankful for the way that God has blessed me through my education at Wayland and the many professors who were intentional and caring in teaching me how to learn and succeed.”
When asked what advice she has for graduating seniors and other recent alumni, Krewall answered: “Remember that God has created you very specifically with distinct talents, and also passions, so don’t be afraid to follow a career that you love; God has equipped you for it.”
