From Army Medic to ER Nurse
CLASS OF 2015
Edward Steele, a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Wayland’s San Antonio campus , began his career as a medic in the United States Army.
“I had taken a fair number of college courses over the years but had never actually tied it all together to get my bachelor's. With the kids almost out of high school, I went back to school.”
After two rigorous years in the Wayland nursing program, Steele graduated in the summer of 2015 with his bachelor’s degree.
“You can often feel that you are getting by on sheer will alone. However, when I took my boards, I passed the first time with the minimum amount of questions.”
Steele now works as an emergency room nurse at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. He plans to one day earn an advanced practice degree and credits his success to Wayland.
