Student Involvement

Campus Involvement

Students on our Plainview campus can become involved with campus activities, organizations, and missions in several ways.

Wayland’s office of Student Activities regularly hosts campus events and intramural athletic opportunities. Please call 806-291-3752 for more information.

There are several different student organizations on campus, academic and social alike, from Greek societies to Alpha Chi Honors society. Other honor societies are open only to specific majors or other qualified applicants, such as Sigma Tau Delta or Kappa Delta Pi. Social Organizations are generally open to a broader student body. Please visit the Student Organization page to view a complete listing of organizations and brief descriptions.

Another opportunity for campus involvement includes Wayland’s intercollegiate athletics teams, such as football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s wrestling, baseball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s track and field, cheer and dance, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s cross country teams; interested students may arrange for tryouts with coaches.

Other extracurriculars include theatre and choir; students have the opportunity to express themselves through performing in choral settings, musicals, operas, or plays. Contact the School of Fine Arts and the School Music for audition dates and requirements.

If you’re interested in mission work, the Baptist Student Ministry’s office is a good place to get started. Contact Donnie Brown (806-291-3595) to get more information. You can also discover missions through the School of Religion and various other academic schools.
