Llano Estacado Museum

Regional History

One of the most interesting cultural facilities on the Wayland campus is the Museum of the Llano Estacado. Housed in the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Regional Heritage Center, the Museum offers an historically rich presentation of regional history.

Featuring geological history, regional plains tribes histories, exhibits on Spanish explorers and buffalo hunters, the museum represents several historically profound periods.

Adjacent to the Museum of the Llano Estacado is the Jimmy Dean Museum that opened in 2016. Funded by a donation from the Jimmy Dean Foundation and Donna Dean Stevens, the museum chronicles the life of the late sausage entrepreneur and entertainer who grew up in Plainview.

Please come by and visit the exhibits during regular business hours at 1900 W. 8th St.   Admission is free.
