The Malouf Abraham Family Art Center

Designed to increase cultural awareness and artistic heritage, the gallery was made possible thanks to the generosity of Dr. Malouf and Therese Abraham.

An avid art collector and patron, Dr. Abraham designed the gallery space in collaboration with the Frank Lloyd Wright Institute. The result is one of the finest and most elegant galleries in the Southwest.

Students at Wayland and local community members take advantage of the wonderful opportunities the gallery provides. Season exhibits include a variety of shows featuring a full range of medias such as sculpture, metalwork, and acrylic and oil paintings, techniques and concepts. Exhibits feature works of both established professional and emerging regional artists, as well as showcases of nationally renowned collections.

NOW SHOWING: THE AMERICAN WATERCOLOR SOCIETY 156th INTERNATIONAL AWARDS EXHIBITION

In 1866, the American Watercolor Society was established as a nonprofit organization to encourage and promote watercolor painting across America. Now, they accept all international watercolorists, whether associates, members or independent artists for the prestigious annual juried exhibition. The styles on display range from abstract and nonrepresentational to traditional realism using primarily pure watercolor, but also acrylic and gouache. Although watercolor has not always been as esteemed as the oil painting media, artists have fought to prove its validity and contribution to the art world. Watercolor painting has greatly benefited by fellowships like the American Watercolor Society that promote the art form, featuring the use of techniques that demonstrate the adaptability and creative possibilities of the medium.

The show will be open June 17 through September 16,2023. The Abraham Art Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 10am - 5pm, Friday 10am - 4pm & Saturday 2pm - 5pm (during the summer, we are closed on Saturdays but will resume regular hours August 16). For more information or to schedule a tour, please call the gallery at 806-291-3710.
