WBU graduation set for Saturday

PLAINVIEW -- Wayland Baptist University’s Plainview campus will hold its spring commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, in Hutcherson Center, with 105 students participating.

Aubrey PedigoAubrey Pedigo, a graduating senior from Canyon, will give the student address. Pedigo is the 2014 Female Citizen of the Year and is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (BSIS) degree, specializing in elementary education. A member of the Flying Queens basketball program during her time at Wayland, Pedigo has been offered a teaching position at Highland Elementary in Plainview.

Wayland President Dr. Paul Armes and Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Claude Lusk will recognize the Highest Ranking Graduates. Three students have posted a 4.0 grade-point average during their time at Wayland. Brian Adamson, of Plainview, is graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors, majoring in chemistry and mathematics. Allison Collins of Roswell, N.M., and Meagan Dixon of Memphis are also graduating as Highest Ranking Seniors, both with BSIS degrees in elementary education.

Dr. Armes will offer a brief charge to the graduates before the presentation of candidates led by Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Bobby Hall.

A reception for graduates, family members and friends will follow in the Pete and Nelda Laney Student Activities Center, sponsored by the Office of Alumni Development.
