PLAINVIEW – T. R. “Dean” Daniel has been named dean at the Wayland Baptist University campus in Altus, Okla., with duties beginning Nov. 15.
Daniel comes to Wayland from a position as account executive with Lawson Publications of Spokane, Wash., on special assignment in Lincoln, Neb. He previously served as dean at Oklahoma State University’s branch in Okmulgee, Okla. and was director of education for the Oklahoma Restaurant Association prior to that.
He holds the doctorate in education from Oklahoma State University, with a major in occupational adult education and an emphasis on teacher certification and personnel development. Daniel also has a Master of Arts in Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He received an associate’s degree from Weatherford College.
Daniel has writing experience for the food service industry and in higher education and has served on committees and boards in related fields.
Daniel replaces Altus’ first dean, Dr. Marty Akins, who returned to the pastorate in New Mexico. The Altus campus opened in 2000 as an extension of the Wichita Falls, Texas, campus and became independent in 2002. The campus is located at Altus Air Force Base and offers the Bachelor of Occupational Education, the Master of Arts in Management and Master of Business Administration degrees.
