PLAINVIEW – As the Wayland Pioneers baseball team took the field for its season opener Friday afternoon, the players, fans and WBU administration took some time to honor and recognize Delbert and Marc McDougal and their wives Carolyn and Pam. As part of their gift to Wayland’s Impact 2020 capital campaign, the McDougals were instrumental in the purchase and installment of a new scoreboard at Wilder Field.

Wayland President Dr. Bobby Hall joined Delbert and Marc as they threw out the first pitch of the season. Dr. Hall then presented the McDougals with a commemorative bat signed by WBU dignitaries showing their gratitude for the McDougals’ support. Delbert and Marc also received baseballs autographed by the team.

Delbert and Carolyn McDougal founded the McDougal Companies where Marc serves as Chief Executive Officer. The family has been a long-time supporter of Wayland. Delbert is a former member of the Wayland Board of Trustees and Marc currently serves on the board. The McDougals’ gift enabled Wayland to purchase a new scoreboard for Wilder Field as well as a new soccer scoreboard for Hilliard Field. Wilder Field has been home to the Pioneers for 20 seasons.
