Wayland Changes Graduation Venue
PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University’s graduation ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. May 11 in Harral Auditorium.
Typically, May graduation is held in Hutcherson Center. A failure of the cooling system, however, is forcing the commencement to move to Harral Auditorium. The decision was made when university officials became aware that the system cannot be repaired in time. With 123 scheduled to participate in the graduation ceremony, seating will be at a premium in Harral. Overflow rooms will be available.
Wayland holds its December graduation ceremony in Harral, so the change of venue will not be a major problem for those involved. University officials felt the move to Harral was necessary in light of typically warm weather in May. While some coolers are working in Hutcherson Center, there is not enough to cool the venue sufficiently. Moving to Harral Auditorium will provide a more comfortable experience for those in attendance.
