Fountain Concerts Celebrate Beethoven

Dr. Richard Fountain will play a series of recitals celebrating Beethoven's 250th birthday.

PLAINVIEW – Dr. Richard Fountain, associate professor of piano at the Wayland Baptist University School of Music, will perform a series of recitals Feb. 1-3 at 7 p.m. in Harral Memorial Auditorium. The concert is the first in a three-year series of concerts that will feature all nine of the Liszt-Beethoven symphonies. The final concert will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday in 2020.

The three-night event will feature a three of Beethoven’s symphonies as transcribed by Franz Liszt for solo piano. Fountain will perform the First Symphony on Thursday, the Sixth Symphony on Friday and the Third Symphony on Saturday.

Fountain is performing the recitals in an attempt to bring these compositions to as many people as possible. Fountain will also be performing lecture recitals and interactive workshops. For more information on the performances log on the
