PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University is offering students and prospective students the opportunity take part in expanding the university’s esports offerings. Currently students gather as a club to compete. With a growing interest in the sport, Wayland is hoping to build a competitive program sanctioned by the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).

Currently 15 to 20 students gather once a week to test their communication and tactical planning skills as they work to defeat their opponents in the arena of online gaming. The WBU team competes with other teams when the opportunities arise. The group practices and scrimmages regularly. The team specializes in Overwatch, League of Legends, Smite and Hearthstone.

Wayland would like students interested in participating to submit their name and contact information in order to judge the interest level for such an endeavor anyone interested can fill out a recruit form online at https://www.wbu.edu/student-life/student-activities/esports.htm.
