WBU Hosting Drive-Through COVID Testing

Wayland Baptist University, in association with the Texas Department of Emergency Management and the City of Plainview, is hosting a drive through test for the COVID-19 virus from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on June 25.

The test is being administered by Air Force personnel from the State of Texas Military Department. Testing will take place, at 700 Utica St. in the circle drive located near at the rear entrance of Harral Auditorium. To register, call 512-883-2400. If you can't get through, you will be allowed to register at the site upon arrival. There is no charge for the test. The testing process will take place as follows:

  • One of the testers will walk up to the car;
  • The individual being tested will roll down their window;
  • The tester will verify the individual’s name with a drivers license, DOB & contact information;
  • The tester will obtain a nasal swab sample from the individual thru the car window.

To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the Center for Disease Control encourages continued adherence to all social distancing guidelines, including wearing a face mask, maintaining a safe distance from others, and washing hands. The CDC outlined a list of coronavirus symptoms, including:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Emergency warning signs that need immediate medical attention are:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • Confusion
  • Inability to wake or stay awake
  • Bluish lips or face
