PLAINVIEW – Effective July 1, Dr. Daniel Brown will assume his new role as the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives at Wayland Baptist University, a position created under the leadership of Wayland President Dr. Bobby Hall as part of his vision for the future of the university.

“Dr. Brown will specialize in designing and advancing initiatives and projects related to the university’s strategic plan,” Hall said. “His deep understanding of the Wayland system, both in Plainview and at the external campuses, positions him well for success in this role.”

In the past few years, Brown has been instrumental in setting up targeted initiatives, specifically those benefitting law enforcement personnel and Texas Department of Criminal Justice employees.

“This position will give him additional opportunities to use those skills in new and exciting ways, including initial projects designed to identify new market segments and to create new international experiences and enrollments,” Hall said.

The possibilities for strategic initiatives are open and endless, giving Brown the opportunity to stretch his creativity in meeting the needs of students in higher education.

“Dr. Hall and I share a lot of the same ideas regarding goals and how to achieve them,” Brown said. “We both agree that targeting specific market segments for growth and development is going to be a part of Wayland’s future. In short, finding out what needs exist and then meeting those needs better than anybody else.”

Dr. Brown has served as the Director of the BAS/BCM office for the past four years. He came to Wayland nearly 10 years ago, starting as a recruiter in the admissions office. Brown moved to the BAS office after three years and worked his way up from an evaluator position into the leadership position. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Memphis, a master’s degree from the University of Alabama and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Dr. Brown’s wife, Dr. Kimberly Brown, is Director of Vocal Studies in Wayland’s School of Music. They have two children, Hannah, age 5, and Luke, age 3.
