WBU Ready to Rock the Stage
PLAINVIEW- Wayland Baptist University is bringing Contemporary Christian music artists Blanca and John Tibbs to the concert stage at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, in Wayland’s Harral Memorial Auditorium.
Blanca is a multiple-award winning, critically acclaimed vocalist headlining Friday’s concert. Formerly a member of Group 1 Crew, Blanca began her solo career with a self-titled album in 2015 and a song catalogue both transparent and honest.
Opener, John Tibbs released his first major label, Dead Man Walking in 2016 after the launch of his first radio single by the same name. “My hope is that I can create music that connects people to Jesus- both Christians and those who may not identify with Christianity. I want to make music that moves people, and I hope that it honors God” states Tibbs.
The concert is a highlight for Wayland’s college preview event, Big Weekend. The annual event is a two-day opportunity for high school juniors, seniors and college transfer students (as well as parents) to experience college life on the WBU campus. Prospective students may sit in on a college class, take a campus tour, audition for music, theater and art, try out for various athletics, attend an academic fair and financial aid seminar, interview for scholarships, and participate in question-and-answer sessions with representatives from each academic school- just to name a few!
Friday evening’s concert is open to the public and free of charge.
