Warren Takes Reins as Dean of Business
July 12, 2017
Dr. Kelly Warren has been named the new Dean of the School of Business at Wayland Baptist University, replacing Dr. Barry Evans who left in June for a position with a sister institution.
Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Cindy McClenagan said Warren’s experience and background made him the logical successor to Evans.
“A 12-year veteran of the School of Business, Dr. Warren has grown to understand not only our Plainview campus and its traditional-age students, but also the adult-learner at our external campuses,” she said.
McClenagan said Warren’s experience in the classroom and as Associate Dean has developed in him a strong sense of the complexities of the Wayland system. Dr. Warren was also instrumental in developing and implementing the Doctor of Management program that opened last summer.
Dr. Warren graduated from Wayland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983. He earned a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1986 and a Doctor of Ministry from Southwestern in 1998. He also holds a Ph.D. from Regent University in Organizational Leadership (2005).
Dr. Warren started teaching Wayland in 2005 and has served as a Professor of management as well as Associate Dean of the School of Business. He served as interim dean of the school following Dr. Evans departure in June.
Wayland Baptist University is a Christian, liberal-arts school located in Plainview, Texas, with additional campus locations in Lubbock, Amarillo, Wichita Falls and San Antonio, Texas; Altus, Okla.; Clovis and Albuquerque, N.M.; Phoenix and Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska; Mililani, Hawaii; and the African nation of Kenya.
