WBU hosts Plainview Art Association fall show
PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University’s Abraham Art Gallery is hosting a Plainview
Art Association fall show. The show will run Oct. 3-17.
The Art Association has an annual Juried Exhibition every May in the Abraham Art Gallery,
but when a shipping delay opened a few weeks of time in the Gallery schedule, Curator
of Art Dr. Candace Keller offered the group a chance to show some of their studio
work in a two week exhibition.
“The Plains Art Association is always great to work with,” Keller said. “They are
very generous to support our students with scholarships every year through the John
and Effie May Kerr Endowment Fund. This year, two Wayland students will receive awards,
which will be presented at one of the fall meetings. The exhibit features works by
members of the PAA, and will run Oct. 3-17.
Artists showing their studio work in the gallery are John Redding of Floydada, Chris
Hanoch of Plainview, Jimmy Hood of Plainview, Carolyn Warrick of Plainview, Dr. Ray
Freeman of Hale Center, Joe Provence of Plainview, Iva Salinas of Abernathy, Frank
Harmon of Lubbock, Candace Keller of Plainview, Alisa Lackey of Plainview, Harriet
Feagin of Plainview, Jo Goen of Floydada, Carolyn Brain of Plainview, Christy Henegar
of Plainview, Jay Coleman of Plainview, and Mike Patrick of Plainview. The purchase
price of selected works in this show and sale will go to benefit the ongoing programs
of the PAA.
The Abraham Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday 10
a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday 2-5 p.m.
