WBU opens online superintendent certification program
PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University is starting an online program for educators interested in obtaining a superintendent certification. Delivered completely online, this program provides certification for prospective superintendent candidates while allowing working administrators the freedom to complete the program without disrupting their daily responsibilities.
The certification program will cover five specialized classes: school plant and facilities; leadership and the change process; school improvement and educational reform; politics, governance and finance of education; and the superintendent practicum. The program is designed for practicing administrators.
Applicants must submit a portfolio for consideration for admission to the program. The portfolio must consist of a completed application, a complete set of official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, a detailed resume, a copy of the applicant’s teacher certification and principal certification, documentation of having at least two years of TEA-approved teaching experience, documentation of experience in administrative or leadership positions, and a statement of professional goals. Once the application process has been completed, an interview will be conducted by program administrators.
