Wayland hosting summer carnival for kids
PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University is inviting families to join the fun on campus from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21, for Summer Splash, an event where local kids can play games, enjoy bounce houses, water slides and other inflatables.
There is no charge, but donations of canned foods are appreciated.
Sponsored by the student activities office, Summer Splash is a service project for the incoming freshman class at Wayland. The new students will run the games and events. All canned food items donated will benefit the Faith in Sharing House in Plainview.
The event is held in conjunction with Koinonia, Wayland’s orientation weekend for new students. Koinonia, a Greek term meaning fellowship, is a weekend full of activities where new students get a chance to get to know one another and familiarize themselves with campus. As part of the event, new students raise food donations for Faith in Sharing House that benefits individuals who need extra help to provide for their families.
Summer Splash will feature carnival games and snacks along with the inflatables. Kids and families are encouraged to just show up and have fun. The games will be set up in the yard area between the science building and library in the middle of campus.
