Wayland honors longtime benefactors at National Philanthropy Day event
LUBBOCK – Wayland Baptist University honored Perryton couple Bruce and Jolene Julian with the Spirit of Philanthropy Award at Thursday’s National Philanthropy Day luncheon sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and held at Lubbock’s Overton Hotel banquet hall.
The Julians were one of many honorees recognized by AFP member organizations at the
event, which also honored the city’s outstanding corporate and foundation donors,
volunteer or civic fundraising organization, individual philanthropists, volunteer
fundraisers and fundraising professional.
“Bruce and Jolene Julian embody the Spirit of Philanthropy for Wayland Baptist University; no matter the question or need, their answer is always yes!” says Mike Melcher, executive director of university advancement at Wayland. “We are so blessed to have the Julians as great friends who not only love Wayland and her students but provide so generously for her needs.”
A long-time member of the WBU Board of Trustees, Bruce Julian gives his time and expertise freely, and Jolene has been a supportive member of the Sally Society women’s philanthropy group since its start in 2011. The Julians have supported every project on the Wayland campus, and they were honored in 2014 with the Keeper of the Flame Award, recognizing those giving at least $100,000 cumulatively.
