Wayland students conducting property inspection pilot project
February 3, 2015
PLAINVIEW -- Students from Wayland Baptist University’s Real Estate Finance course will be conducting curbside inspections of residential areas in Plainview over the next few weeks. The area included in the inspections is between Columbia and Jolliet and 6th Street to 11th Street.
The purpose of the project developed by Dr. Charles Starnes is to map the appearance and visible condition of homes in Plainview. In cooperation with the City of Plainview, students will evaluate the condition of home exteriors, roofs, yards, driveways, fences and walkways. Each property will receive a score from 1 to 4, with 4 being the highest score. After compiling the scores, a map will be color-coded to indicate areas that would benefit from increased homeowner attention or city code enforcement officials.
The inspection will not require entry into any property or inspection of back yards unless clearly visible from the street. Inquiries may be directed to the Wayland Baptist University School of Business at 291-1020.
