Richard Fountain to perform faculty recital

PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University Associate Professor of Collaborative Piano Dr. Richard Fountain will perform a faculty recital at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Harral Memorial Auditorium on the Wayland campus.

The Wayland Friends of Music will host a pre-concert kick-off reception in the hall on the south side of the auditorium, beginning at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to the reception as well as the concert. Admission is free.

Dr. Fountain is preparing for an upcoming tour of Steinway Hall as a featured guest performer. He will play at three Steinway Hall locations: in Fort Worth on Sept. 10, Plano on Sept. 11, and Dallas on Sept. 12. All Steinway Hall performances will be at 7 p.m.

Fountain’s concert will consist of three compositions. He will perform Bach-Brahms Chaconne for Left Hand Alone, Mozart’s Sonata in B-flat, K.333, and Liszt’s Sonata in B Minor.

Dr. Fountain is an accomplished musician, holding the Principal Keyboard position in both the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra in Lincoln, Neb. He has worked with a wide variety of vocal and instrumental soloists, as well as several large choral ensembles. He was the principal rehearsal and performance pianist for the world premiere of the musical Broadcast, by Scott Murphy and Nathan Christensen.

Dr. Fountain will perform on a Steinway Model D grand piano. The School of Music at Wayland is an All-Steinway School.
