Band to perform Concert on the Lawn

PLAINVIEW – The Wayland Baptist University Pioneer band will perform its final concert of the spring at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20. The Concert on the Lawn will be held outdoors in front of the Harral Fine Arts Center.
While the band will perform on the steps of Harral, the audience is invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic supper and enjoy a relaxing evening on the lawn. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors.
Both the Wayland Jazz Ensemble and the Wayland Wind Ensemble will perform. The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Joe Vandiver, will perform "Child of God," based on Romans 8:16, as well as "Brass Bugaloo", "Limehouse Blues", "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most", and "Tiger of San Pedro."
Under the direction of Mr. Mack Bibb, the Wayland Wind Ensemble will perform "Hoe Down," from the ballet “Rodeo” by Aaron Copeland; "An American Portrait" by James Swearingen, "Fantasia on Dixie" by Dan Emmett, "Excerpts from Symphony No. 1", the "Lord of the Rings" by Johan De Meij, and "A Symphonic Portrait for Concert Band" by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
