Wayland Baptist University named to Victory Media’s 2015 Military Friendly Schools list
September 30, 2014
PLAINVIEW—Wayland Baptist University announced today that it has been designated a 2015 Military Friendly School by Victory Media, an organization that focuses on connecting the military and civilian worlds.
Now in its sixth year, the Military Friendly Schools designation and list by Victory Media is a trusted resource for post-military success. Military Friendly provides service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.
The Military Friendly Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly Schools list has played a significant role over the past six years in advancing best practices to support military students across the country.
Many of Wayland’s external campuses are located on or near military bases. Wayland’s Vice President of External Campuses, Dr. Elane Seebo, works closely with the academic programs and campuses that serve many military members across the nation.
“For more than four decades, Wayland has served our military communities wherever they are—on military installations, in their communities—even at deployment stations,” Seebo said. “Wayland provides high quality educational programs tailored to the needs of the military.”
Wayland’s mission is to educate students in an academically challenging, learning-focused and distinctively Christian environment for professional success and service to God and humankind.
“Wayland’s focus on service to God and humankind parallels the mission of our military services and provides opportunities for service experiences in local communities or across the globe as an integral part of a student’s educational journey,” Seebo said. “Because ‘service’ is so ingrained for our service members, they appreciate and exemplify this core value of the university for other students with whom they share their academic experiences.”
