Wayland prepares for Big Weekend

March 13, 2014

PLAINVIEW – There is still time for high school juniors and seniors and college transfer students to register for Big Weekend at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. Big Weekend gives prospective students the opportunity to explore Wayland and learn more about its offerings. It also gives students who like to get a head start the chance to register early for classes.

Scheduled for March 28-29, students may register by logging onto www.wbu.edu and clicking on the Big Weekend link, or by calling the Office of Admissions at 806-291-3500. Parents are welcome to attend the event with their students. There is a $30 registration fee for all who attend.

Highlighted by a Friday night concert, Big Weekend gives prospects the chance to meet faculty and staff, experience classes, learn more about financial aid options and have some fun at the same time. Special events include campus tours, information sessions, a late-night breakfast in the cafeteria, athletics tryouts, scholarship auditions, scholarship interviews and a concert headlined by Rapture Ruckus with special guests Abandon and Ryan Stevenson. Parents will receive valuable information and have a chance to ask questions during a parents’ breakfast on Saturday morning.

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, and the event officially ends at dinner on Saturday. Students may stay in the dorms with current Wayland students but pre-registration is required. Parents are invited to stay in local motels. The Days Inn, Best Western Conestoga Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Suites all offer special Big Weekend rates. All meals are provided with the registration fee.
