King to perform percussion recital

December 2, 2014

PLAINVIEW – Dr. Anthony King will perform what is believed to be the first faculty percussion recital on a Wayland Baptist University stage on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Harral Memorial Auditorium.

If it’s not the first, it is definitely the first in an extended period of time. Dr. King, Assistant Professor of Music and Associate Director of Bands and Applied Percussion, will perform on a number of instruments, including the rope drum, field drum, snare drum, timpani, vibraphone and marimba. He will perform a number of pieces from composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Kirk J. Gay, Andy Harnsberger, Paul Smadbeck and more.

John Jones from Plainview High School will accompany King on some pieces.

Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
