Poet Laureate to visit Wayland Baptist University

PLAINVIEW –Texas Poet Laureate Jan Epton Seale will visit Wayland Baptist University on Thursday, March 7, for a poetry reading at 7 p.m.

According to her website, Seale, who was named Poet Laureate for 2012, lives in McAllen and is the author of seven volumes of poetry, two books of short fiction, three nonfiction books and nine children’s books. Her work has appeared in publications such as The Yale Review, Texas Monthly, The Chicago Tribune and Writer’s Digest. She has also conducted poetry reading and workshops across the country.

Seale attended Baylor before completing her bachelor’s degree at The University of Louisville. She earned a master’s degree at North Texas State University, and taught English and creative writing at the University of Texas-Pan American and North Texas State.

Seale’s poetry reading will be held in Wayland’s auditorium on the second floor of Gates Hall. The reading will be followed by a question and answer period.

Admission is free and open to the public.
