Summer Splash event set for area children
August 8, 2013
PLAINVIEW – As part of Koinonia activities at Wayland Baptist University, the freshman class will host a special Summer Splash event on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 2-4 p.m. at 6th and Travis streets in Plainview. The event is open to children ages 5-12.
Admission is free, but the first 100 students who bring a canned food donation for
Faith in Sharing House (F.I.S.H.) will receive a free t-shirt.
Wayland Director of Student Activities Micah Evans said the event is designed to help freshmen students realize the importance of service to the community.
“The summer splash event provides an opportunity for our new Wayland students to engage the Plainview community. The students and children alike have a chance to develop a mind-set of giving as the WBU freshmen collect canned goods for F.I.S.H.” Evans said. “Besides it’s a lot of fun, what kid doesn’t like a water slide, and it is for a good cause.”
The event will feature water slides, water games, face painting and other fun activities for kids. Summer Splash is a part of Koinonia, Wayland’s new student orientation weekend. For more information, contact the Office of Student Activities at 291-3752.
