Spirit will perform this week

PLAINVIEW – If you are looking for a night of entertainment, look no further than Wayland Baptist University. Spirit, a premier performance group from the School of Music, will perform in a type of variety show at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20 and 21, in Wayland’s Black Box theatre in the Harral Fine Arts Center.

In a style similar to years past, Spirit will perform a number of contemporary Christian pieces, including the music of Travis Cottrell from his “Jesus Saves Live” CD, as well as music of the Christ Church singers and other popular groups.

The second half of the show will feature Cinemagic, a colorful revue of Hollywood’s music history. This portion of the show will feature classics from the silver screen such as: "Thanks for the Memories," "You Made Me Love You," "Happy Trails," "Steppin’ Out With My Baby," "The Heat is On," "The Way You Look Tonight," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," and many more.

Spirit is directed by Dr. Sarah Herrington. Member of the ensemble are: Elizabeth Carleo, Tessa Kendrick, Jenna Swift, Morgan Switzenberg, Kris Bransom, Corey Godfrey, Omar Hernandez, and Chris Kirby.
