Early registration offers students a jump start at fall enrollment

May 18, 2011

PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University will offer three different early registration sessions for new students during the summer.

The one-day sessions offer new freshmen and transfer students the opportunity to take placement tests, meet with faculty advisors in your major area and discuss academic plans, meet with financial aid advisors, and lock in class registrations before the fall semester starts.

The process not only helps new students transition into the Wayland family more smoothly, it also provides new students a chance to get into their desired classes before the rush of fall registration hits.

The three sessions are slated for Saturday, June 11, Friday, June 24, and Saturday, July 23. The day begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m., followed by a general information session at 9:30, placement testing (for those who require it) at 10 a.m., and registration, beginning at 10:45 a.m. The process lasts several hours and lunch is provided for students and parents participating.

Wayland will offer the ACT residual exam on the day prior to each early registration session provided students have submitted their application for admissions and all transcripts by the deadlines. Those with a permit to enter may also take the Accuplacer exam at 1 p.m. the day before or at 10 a.m. the day of each session, though it is preferred to test on the day prior to early registration so students have more time with advisors. Reservations for any placement testing must be made in advance through the office of admissions.

Students must be fully admitted to WBU in order to participate in early registration, which includes submitting all applications, transcripts from high school and colleges attended (if applicable) and ACT or SAT scores. Deadlines to reserve a place at early registration are June 8 (for the June 11 session), June 21 (for June 24) and July 20 (for July 23).

Regular registration for the fall semester is August 23, with classes beginning on August 24.

For more enrollment information or to register for early registration sessions, contact the Office of Admissions at 291-3500 or (800) 588-1928. Reservations can also be done online through the WBU Web site at www.wbu.edu.
