Academy of Fine Arts to hold spring registration
January 5, 2011
PLAINVIEW – The Wayland Baptist University Academy of Fine Arts will hold its spring registration from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, in the south hallway of Wayland’s Harral Auditorium. Students may register to participate in the Children’s Chorus of Plainview, Music Together program or private music lessons.
The Children’s Chorus of Plainview (CCP) begins is under the direction of Dr. Debra Buford, Associate Professor of Vocal Music Education at Wayland. The performing choir is open to children ages 8-14 whose voices have not yet changed. New members will complete a short, non-threatening audition that rates the musical potential of the student. The CCP is sponsored by a generous grant from the Lubbock Area Foundation that provides scholarships to assist with tuition costs for students through an application process completed during registration. The CCP will rehearse from 4:30-5:45 each Monday afternoon in the Miller Recital Hall. For more information contact Dr. Buford at 806-291-1075 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Early childhood Music Together classes for children birth-5 years of age will be taught by nationally licensed and certified instructor Alexis Hall. Classes will meet Mondays at 10:15 a.m. or in the late afternoon with a time yet to be determined. Additional classes may be offered as needed and parents or care-givers are expected to attend and participate in the training. For more information, contact Hall at 806-292-4312.
The AFA will also continue to offer private instrumental and voice lessons for community students. For additional information please contact the Wayland School of Music at 806-291-1076 or email@example.com.
