Lubbock campus hosting alumni event

LUBBOCK – The Lubbock campus of Wayland Baptist University is hosting a special gathering for all alumni.

An alumni luncheon is planned for Saturday, Aug. 15, at the United Supermarkets auditorium on the campus, located at 801 North Quaker Avenue. Besides the meal, the luncheon will include speaking by Dr. Estelle Owens, university historian and researcher of the school’s centennial history book titled The Wayland Century.

In addition, the Lubbock Mustang Club will have a car show on the campus grounds. The event begins at noon and runs through 1:15 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

The alumni gathering is being organized by the campus’ alumni planning council, comprised of Vickie Bennett, Fulton Berry, Trudy Brown, Allen Carson, Adolphus Cleveland, Rhea Cooper, Roger Ellis, David Gutierrez, Janeen Hackney, Gene Hawkins, Michelle Hunter, Sue Johnson, Nita Key, Patty Lindsey, Carolyn Ratcliffe, Scherry Scarborough, Lisa Stane, Chuck Williams and Sara Wilson.
