Wayland to hold AFA registration

PLAINVIEW – The Wayland Baptist University Academy of Fine Arts will hold registration for those interested in private music lessons, the Children’s Chorus of Plainview and Music Together on Aug. 18 from 4-7 p.m. in Harral Memorial Auditorium on the Wayland campus. The AFA offers personalized instruction in voice and piano as well as other instruments and art when available.
The Children’s Chorus of Plainview will hold short auditions for children ages 8-12. The group will begin its fifth season under the direction of Mrs. Debra Buford. The CCP received a grant from the Lubbock Area Foundation for the 2009-10 season to help further the music education of area children. Licensed instructors will also present the third season of Music Together, a music instruction program for children from birth to age 6. This semester’s session will feature the music from the Fiddle Curriculum and all families will receive CDs and a music book for continued home development.
Vocal technique classes for junior high and high school students will be taught by Jennifer Brown. The classes will focus on proper singing technique and repertoire development.
