Active volunteer, CPA is Women in Business honoree

PLAINVIEW – Jennifer Marley is no stranger to numbers, and her expertise in them has been the link to several community service ventures.
Marley, a certified public accountant with her own practice in Plainview, will be one of three women to be honored with the Women in Business Award from the Students in Free Enterprise team at Wayland Baptist University. The awards will be presented in a 6:30 p.m. banquet on Thursday, April 23, in the McClung Center.
A native of Silverton, Marley graduated as salutatorian of her high school class there, then earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 1984. She worked as a CPA for six year with Jones and Pendergast in Plainview before opening her own practice in 1991.
She married Mark Marley, a Crosbyton native, in 1985, and the couple lived in Kress for three years before moving to Plainview in 1988. Mark owns Production Plus, farms and is a goat rancher. The couple has three children: Dallas, 18; Zach, 15, and Jaci, 13.
With her accounting background, Jennifer has served the PTA as treasurer for many years and is the treasurer for the FFA Booster Club as well. She helps run the concession stand at Bulldog Stadium for football games in her work with the FFA.
In addition, Jennifer has served in Soroptimist International of Plainview for many years, serving one term as president and several terms as treasurer. She and her husband have cooked briskets for the Relay for Life for several years in Plainview in support of the American Cancer Society.
Professionally, she is a member of Texas Society of CPAs.
