Wayland History Book offered early for discount
Release Date: May 22, 2008
PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University is offering alums, friends and other history buffs a chance to get its history volume at a discount by ordering early.
Titled “A Dream Realized: The First Century at Wayland Baptist University,” the coffee-table style book will feature a chronological history, time line and plenty of photos and memorabilia from the university’s founding in 1908 to the present.
When released in the fall in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration beginning in August, the book will sell for $40. By ordering and paying early, the book is available for $32 through June 15. Early birds can also purchase the complete, unabridged history – a simple bound volume slated to release in Fall 2009 – for $18 now, creating a $50 package set of both volumes.
Books may be reserved by check or credit card and there is no limit to the number that can be reserved. Once the books are available, they will be mailed to those making early reservations. The University Store will carry books at full price after release.
The coffee-table book is a combined effort of lengthy research by university historian Dr. Estelle Owens, professor of history, and design and layout work by Jonathan Petty and Teresa Young in the Office of Communications. Anecdotes by former students and employees were collected to add the personal touch to the pictorial volume.
An early reservation form is available online at www.wbu.edu or in the Plainview Daily Herald ads running in the coming weeks. For more information, call (806) 291-3586.
