Seniors Wooten and Merrill to present senior recitals

PLAINVIEW -- Wayland Baptist University seniors Garrett Wooten and Rachel Merrill have set their senior music recitals for Jan. 18 in Harral Memorial Auditorium.

Wooten, a music major from Amarillo, will perform in at 3:30 p.m. The son of Ron and Karyn Wooten, Garrett’s tenor voice recital will include several classical pieces, including Don Giovanni by Mozart and several works by Schumann. Wooten will conclude with a more contemporary song cycle about baseball. Wooten, a student of Jeff Kensmoe, will be joined on stage by Cimarron Ainsworth on piano.

Merrill’s instrumental performance, beginning at 4:30 p.m. will include pieces by Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Debussy and more. A student of Dr. Gary Belshaw, Merrill will include one of Belshaw’s compositions in her program.

Merrill, a senior from Lubbock, is the daughter of Larry and Emily Merrill.

Admission to the recitals is free and open to the public.
