Honor societies induct new members

PLAINVIEW – Three academic honor societies at Wayland Baptist University added new members recently in campus induction ceremonies.

Alpha Chi National Honor Society welcomed eight into the Texas Alpha Eta Chapter. The society includes the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes at Wayland, regardless of their major. Dr. Perry Collins, associate professor of psychology, serves as sponsor.

Wayland students added during last week’s ceremony included Jenny Beth Alford, a junior from Littlefield; John Goble, a senior from Keller; Matt Johnston, a junior from Alto, N.M.; Christy Morgan, a senior from Muleshoe; Melissa Pawelek, a junior from Lovington, N.M.; Leah Quisenberry, a junior from Post; Amanda Russell, a senior from Borger; and Michael-Shane Varner, a senior from Plainview.

Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society for education students, added new members in their fall induction. Joining the ranks were Daniel Fitzgerald, a senior from Colorado Springs; Irene Flores, a freshman from Plainview; Brooke Ashlee Juarez, a senior from Plainview; Joel Magallan, a senior from Hale Center; Kristin Nichols, a junior from Taos, N.M.; and Misti Rangel, a junior from Plainview. Dr. Patricia Herman, professor of education, sponsors the organization.

Psi Chi National Honor Society is comprised of top academic students in the field of psychology, open to either majors or minors. The group inducted four new students last week, including senior April Pearce of Plainview, senior Michelle Sanders of Watauga, senior Amanda Russell of Borger, and freshman David McClung of Whiteface. Collins also sponsors the organization.
