Music department premiering pieces written by faculty
PLAINVIEW – The music department at Wayland Baptist University will hold a special Texas composers event at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Harral Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
The recital will feature the world premiere of Monologues for Piano and Clarinet, composed by Dr. Gary Belshaw, associated professor of piano pedagogy, performed in part by Dr. Sandra Mosteller, assistant professor of music at Wayland. The event will also feature Sonatine for Clarinet and Piano by Associate Professor of Music Robert Black.
Other performances will include pieces composed by Van Appledorn (Texas Tech University), Russell Riepe (Texas State University), Simon Sargon (Southern Methodist University) and James Scott Ballentine (UT-San Antonio).
The performance is guaranteed to “not be your normal Texas fare.”
