Students Honor Faculty, Staff at Luncheon

PLAINVIEW -- Wayland Baptist University’s Student Government Association honored the university’s faculty and staff Friday with a special appreciation luncheon, themed “Sail Away with Us.” SGA officers presented two awards honoring individuals for their service.

Camille Lewis, secretary in the Division of Religion and Philosophy, received one of the Janis Davis Faculty/Staff/Administration Appreciation Awards given. Lewis has worked in the division for the past few years and assists all religion faculty and students.

Dr. Arch Mayfield, professor of English at Wayland for many years, received the Davis Award for faculty appreciation. Mayfield has worked at Wayland since 1973 and teaches all levels of literature courses as well as Freshman English.

Members of the SGA helped fill drinks during the banquet, which featured a cruise ship theme. Teresa Moore, coordinator of student activities, and Nancy Keith, student activities secretary, coordinated the event.

The Davis Award is named for Janis Davis, the late wife of Dr. Wallace Davis, former president at Wayland.
