Student honored by Daughters of the American Revolution

PLAINVIEW -- Wayland Baptist University sophomore Nick Pruitt of Mineola recently received the American History Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Llano Estacado Chapter.

Pruitt, a sophomore majoring in history, was nominated for the award by the Division of Social Sciences at Wayland, chaired by Dr. Estelle Owens. He completed an application process and was notified that he had been chosen.

“It’s nice to be awarded for something I’m interested in,” Pruitt said. “It’s a nice achievement and will be helpful when I pursue graduate school.”

The son of Mark and Karla Pruitt, he is involved in the Baptist Student Ministries, Student Senate and First Baptist Church and is in the honors program at Wayland. He plans to continue his education in history, with interest in government or teaching fields.
