Wayland presents recitals

PLAINVIEW - Wayland Baptist University will present a pair of senior music recitals this week. Both recitals are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, Jimmy Dale Cannon will present a trumpet recital at 7:30 p.m. in Harral Auditorium. Cannon, the son of Jimmie and Patricia Cannon of New Deal, is a music education instrumental major. He will perform several solo pieces including "The Carnival of Venice" and "A Trumpeters Lullaby," as well as a trio in which he will be joined on stage by Wayland faculty member Nelson Dotson, who also serves as Cannon's private instructor, and Justin Ogden.

On Thursday, Andrea Turner will present her voice recital at 7:30 p.m. in Harral Auditorium. Turner, the daughter of Eddie and Sue Turner of Plainview, is a music education major. She will perform several art songs and arias as well as some more contemporary music. Turner will be joined on stage by her sister Erin West to perform "Sous le Dome Epais" and fellow student Alan Yarbrough will accompany her during "The Prayer."

Jennie Lynn Hodges is Turner's private instructor and will accompany her on the piano.
