Switchfoot in concert at Wayland Baptist University
PLAINVIEW - The Grammy nominated band Switchfoot will headline a concert at Wayland Baptist University's Harral Auditorium on Friday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. Switchfoot is an award-winning rock band that may be best known for its work on the soundtrack of the motion picture "A Walk to Remember." The movie featured five songs from Switchfoot, including "Dare You to Move," "Learning to Breathe," "You," "Only Hope" and a duet by Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman and the star of the movie, Mandy Moore, singing "Someday We'll Know."
Switchfoot's Learning to Breathe received a Grammy nomination in 2001 for Rock Gospel Album of the Year. The band has garnered five Dove Award nominations, four ASCAP awards for Best New Artist in 1997, Best Pop Album and Best Pop Artist in 2001, and Best Adult Alternative in 2002. More than 40 of the band's songs have been used in television and movies.
The concert will also feature the groups Noise Rachet and Denison Mars.
The concert is being held in conjunction with Wayland's Big Weekend, a college preview for high school juniors and seniors. The concert is open to the public.
