WBU School of Education welcomes new faculty member
Dr. Barbara Carr has joined the faculty at Wayland Baptist University in the Don Williams School of Education. Carr is associate professor of education and director of student teaching and field experiences.
Carr comes to Wayland after seven years as a teacher in the Windham School District of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, specifically in the Formby and Wheeler Units in Plainview. At Windham, Carr was responsible for preparing inmates for GED exams, evaluating and planning curricula for student inmates and teaching inservice for unit employees. She previously was an assistant at Estacado Junior High and served as director of education services for the Museum of the Llano Estacado.
A graduate of Wayland, Carr earned her bachelor of arts degree and master of education from WBU and received her doctorate in education in 2001. She also received a superintendent certification from West Texas A&M University.
Carr has presented two papers on teaching in prison classrooms to American Education Research Association conferences and has led numerous workshops and seminars on learning and teaching issues. She has had an article published in a writing book by Dr. Pat Herman of Wayland and was part of a collaborative effort for a publication on educational usage of the Museum of the Llano Estacado.
